Great affordable product, one-stop workout station September 5, 2010 Marc Arguelles Rivera When I read the other reviews for this product, I was a bit skeptical it was actually as good as it sounded and looked on screen. Primarily, I was concerned whether this station was actually sturdy enough to perform some of the recommended exercises. After taking the pipes, bolts, screws, and other pieces out of the box (which were impeccably packaged and organized), it was about a 45 minute assembly. Note to anyone else who has to assemble this product for themselves: fit all the pipes together with the spacers FIRST before inserting and tightening the bolts and washers in their place. If you go pipe by pipe and tighten the bolts, you'll overlook the spacers that have to go between a certain set of pipes, like I did and waste about 10 minutes (LOL). Using this product is easy, fun, and most of all--you definitely feel the workout! I am considering implementing some inverted (hanging/vertical) sit-ups into my routine with the tower, just have to figure out which side I should hang my legs over the pull-up bar. Very impressed with this product! The price is unbeatable and setup is easy. Bottom line: you are sure to get your money's worth with this awesome power tower! Highly recommended.
Good product for great price August 25, 2010 RugbyJC I am an avid gym go-er and decided that since I really do not need bedroom furniture at my new apartment that I would get gym equipment instead. For what I wanted this was ideal, especially given the price. It was the cheapest power tower I could find in any store or online and for my frame is very comfortable. I am a 5'0" female and 145 lbs with small arms/hands and closer set shoulders (although broad for my height). For me the tower is relatively steady and perfect dimensions. I have no problem with the grips given my hand size and it allows me to do chin-ups with a closer grip (a lot of towers don't have a flat bar and are curved at the top and don't allow for this), as well as pull-ups with a normal to wide grip if I choose. I have not noticed the bending that a some others had mentioned, but I might just weigh less. I don't know if I would ever use the push-up grips, as I generally just do those on the floor with varying hand positions so I have not completely tightened that yet and don't really have a comment on that. What I also like is that for a short person it has a support bar about 6 inches off the group that allows me to stand on this to get up to the dip station and pull-up station without having to jump or climb on other furniture. That's not what this piece was intended for, but I was all set to get a step stool based on the model in my gym and at a few stores and was pleasently surprised when I discovered I didn't need this. Overall, great deal and seems like it will be a perfect machine for what I want, providing the long term quality is good.
Very good pull up bar August 11, 2010 Brian Tracy I bought this at beginning of the summer break to do P90X, there are a lot of pull ups involved in the work out program and I do not want to bolt anything in my family room, and there isn't a suitable door to put the door way type of pull up bar, so I bought this tower.
The Good: At this price, it is a great value. The steel is thick so I noticed absolutely no flexing in the steel. The foam grip is comfortable and durable. Assembly was easy.
The Bad: I was surprised no one mentioned this, when I did pull ups in the beginning (I face the inside of the tower), may be I wobbled a bit more, but the whole tower would tilt off the floor, and I weight 150lbs, so I had to put 2 bags of fertilizer(10lb each, what I had on hand) on to the 2 legs where the push up bars are, and the tower is absolute stable after that. Also my frame is a bit smaller so my shoulder width is exactly where the pull up bar's vertical bar is bolted onto the horizontal bar so I always had to do a bit wider than shoulder width for regular pull ups and chin ups.
Overall I definitely recommend this product, I improved a lot physically doing pull ups and dips on this tower, I don't think I can finish P90X without it. It's great if you need some alternative to the door way type of pull up bars or the ceiling mounted ones.
Great, especially for P90X because it's portable August 1, 2010 Sean Hrncir I am 6'1", 190 lbs, and this is a great fit for me. The pull-up bar is very stable when I use the inside grips, but when I use the outside grips it can get a bit wobbly if I kip. I don't mind this because it's good motivation not to kip, and if it did bother me I would just throw down a couple sandbags and be good to go. I read some reviews that say just get the door jam-bar instead, but I have owned a door-jam bar for 5 years and this stand-alone is better because:
1) more flexibility, I can put this right by my TV instead of 15' away and at a goofy angle
2) higher bar, by my measurement about 9" further off the ground
3) this will never damage a door jam (makes for happy landlords)
4) much wider grip available
$100 isn't bad either, especially with free shipping.
Great product for an extremely cheap price July 23, 2010 Mark A. Thomas I have been looking for a pull up/dip station for sometime that didn't take up a lot of room and was at a price that isn't too high. This product is very well manufactured and I'm really enjoying the added workout to go along with my weightlifting. My only grip is that pull up bar isn't set higher. Otherwise, this is about as good as you get based on what I've found.
