Does the job well August 28, 2010 Steve M. 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Mounted to a beam below my 2d floor deck. Works great. Heavy duty. Finish looks like it will stand up to long term use.
BEST WALL-MOUNT PULL UP BAR! GREAT FOR P90X! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! July 21, 2010 Johnny (San Francisco, CA) I bought this pull up bar because I want to permanently mount it on a wall. I had 2 options where to mount: solid wall or dry wall. I opted to mount on drywall in my workout room. However, it is not recommended to be mounted on a dry wall as they stated. Therefore, I first mounted a solid wood base on the dry wall to establish a foundation. Then, I screwed in the 2 mounting brackets (4 bolts per bracket) into my wood base. Installation was rather simple. I was done in less than 30 minutes (including the based and pull up bar installation).
Here are features of the bar that I like the most:
- Professionally made, sturdy and solid once mounted
- Thick steel tubing
- Can handle my 240 lb. weight
- Wide and Neutral grips are perfect for P90x workouts
I highly recommend this pull up bar if you are looking for something to mount permanently on a wall. It's great for my P90X workouts!
Cant even install June 27, 2010 Emdad 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
Bought it and now its just sitting here, shipping it back for a refund would not be worth it since I'd have to pay a ton of shipping and get back a fraction of what I paid for it. Get it but beware it's hard to install.
Sturdy, but poorly designed. May 11, 2010 Michael Neal As others have mentioned, this bar is not 16" on center. I mounted the brackets on the wall first (can be done with a short 2x4 or 1x4 running vertically instead of horizontally), so I did not have a large 2x8 or 2x10 spanning the wall. Then I drilled 2 new holes in the connecting bar and positioned it above the wall mounted brackets. It is solid, but the design could be better. For instance, there could be a couple of extra holed drilled in the connecting (pull up) bar to accomodate different widths. The brackets could be designed to give more holes in a straight line vertically instead of 4 holes that could not connect to the wall stud. Bottom line, it was cheaper than most options.
Not as sturdy as it looks April 14, 2010 A. Makeev 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Overall I am satisfied with this pull up bar for my garage. I mounted it in the block wall and it hasn't moved an inch. My complaint is that after installing one of the supports I hung from the end to check my mounting job and the handle that sticks straight out bent down. The square tubing remained straight and perpendicular to the wall, it was only the cylindrical pipe with the rubber grip which bent. I only weigh 170lbs so I was surprised to see this happen. I was able to straighten it and when hanging from both there is no movement but that's pretty flimsy in my opinion.
